Honey Do's

This weekend we headed to Sabinal, Texas. I know most of you are wondering where the heck that is?! I did too until I met Nathan---Sabinal is "the small town" of all small towns. There is only 1 stop light, a Dairy Queen & a gas station. Not too much else to speak of besides the infamous "R" BBQ where everybody knows everybody...unless you are not from Sabinal which leads to the uncomfortable stares. Nathan actually asked me the first time I came down to take off my furry boots because people were going to wonder what kind of girl he brought with him....Of course, I didn't & let them have something to talk about ;) Why make life boring?!?

Anyways, back to the purpose of this post and more importantly our trip. Nathan's family hosted a Honey Do Shower for us. He was excited because it was finally his turn to get fun stuff---some how Tupperware & muffin pans don't rock his world! The hostesses worked really hard getting everything together and it all turned our great! It was a little strange being at a shower and not knowing anyone but it was great getting to meet some of his family & friends.

Of course my wonderful family drove up for the shower as well and as always with an awesome gift in tow! They got us a brand new grill! Too bad we couldn't fit it in my car because we got so many other great gifts! Nathan keeps saying he likes this whole wedding thing because it feels like Christmas all the time....then again he isn't writing any of the thank you notes either! haha jk I don't mind at all! From hammers to cordless screwdrivers to grilling tools, I think we pretty much got it all!

Luckily Nathan's dad got us a big toolbox so we have somewhere to store all of them. As you can see from the pictures, Nathan was like a kid with all of his new toys! He was giddy the whole time he was playing with them and putting them away. It really was hilarious to watch. More than anything, I was glad we finally got some stuff that he got to be excited about!

Oh and we did have one interesting gift from none other than my sister. Honestly, I knew it was coming before we even opened the box...the card said it all. As Nathan opened the gift all we could do is laugh as he unwrapped a Zebra print Snuggie.... Oh the joy of being a proud Snuggie owner.

That was our last shower until well...the really fun one of course ;) I will keep you posted until then! I am going to Round Top this weekend for the big antique show so hopefully I make it back with some good finds!!

The Countdown is On!

This has been a pretty big week for Nathan & I. It marks 2 years since our first date...we think! (We really can't remember the exact date but know it was some time around now.) It also marks the last month before the wedding---finally!! As you can see, we even have a countdown on the chalkboard at the house! We are getting more and more excited by the day!

My family!

All of the wonderful hostesses!

This past weekend our Miscellaneous Shower was absolutely wonderful! The food was excellent, I got to catch up with some wonderful ladies, and we got tons of gifts!! The whole back end of my car was packed down and now so is my dining room table. This weekend we have a Honey-Do Shower in Sabinal hosted by Nathan's side of the family! I am extremely excited to see what all this weekend has in store. It should be a lot of fun!

I love these girls! Especially Janna who drove all the way from Lubbock in the rain to come to our shower!!

Oh and to keep you up to date on the progress of the barn...it is was initially a mess from mud and crappy contractors but fortunately things have really progressed and it is about finished!! Mom was definitely stressing considering she didn't have her "vision" yet but Dad kept reassuring her it would be fine and he would have it all ready one month before the wedding. Well, it is September 17th and the wedding is October 17th and fortunately for him...he finished TODAY!!
How awesome does it look!?!
That is about all for now! I will update you next week after our Honey-Do Shower! I have to go study now for one of the many tests I have coming up...believe it or not, they still make you go to school when you are engaged. Can you believe it?!?

Labor Day weekend involved none of the excitement of vacation or sunbathing, simply rainy bridal portraits and lots of final wedding details… The first thing I need you to understand before I start this is that Nathan & I have completely different ideas about spending money... For him, clothing is not a necessity---even when he desperately needs it. Honestly, he would rather wear the same shirt every day than to spend money on new clothes… So with that said, Friday was supposed to be my final spending spree before I succumb to the reality that I am about to be a poor newlywed!

Unfortunately throughout the course of our shopping extravaganza I found myself saying terrible things like “I don’t really need that” and “I can’t afford that”. Seriously, what is the matter with me?!? My Mom said she didn’t even know those phrases existed in my shopping vocabulary. I went with a mission to frivolously spend money (Yes, I said frivolously…don’t judge me!) on myself one final time but in turn spent all my money buying Nathan new clothes! What is this world coming to!?!?

Although I wasn’t as successful as I would have liked to be, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to hang out with my Mom for the day!

Saturday was bridal portrait day. The weather seemed a bit ominous all day but I tried to keep an optimistic attitude. My hair went off with out problems thanks to Annette at
Thyme Day Spa. My makeup went great as always with my talented sister Haley and the dress looked gorgeous thanks to the assistance of my Mom! The trip to Festival Hill in Round Top, Texas to actually take pictures is where my optimism pretty much ended...

As we drove the clouds got darker and the direction in which we were driving looked like it was pouring.... Of course my Mom being her optimistic self says, “Well, there is only a 40% chance of rain which means there is a 60% chance it won’t rain”. That’s great to know and all but when it is actually raining when you say it, it doesn’t exactly mean a whole heck of a lot. Mom & Lynsey looked around at Festival Hill and determined it was way too wet to attempt it even if it did stop raining. No need to ruin a perfectly good dress for Bridal portraits…

So, they get back in the car and ask me if I would like try again the next day or if I would like to drive to Independence and see if it is better weather there. I quickly told them that there was no way I wanted to have to get ready all over again so let’s please go anywhere that it’s not raining!! If there was a spot on the side of the highway that looked decent I would have taken pictures there…I just did not want to get all dressed up again!

We drove almost an hour to get to the complete other side of the county but it was well worth it! Independence saved us from a potential Bridezilla meltdown!! The weather was absolutely perfect! Lynsey immediately got into photographer mode and the creative juices started flowing. Too bad I can’t show you all the pictures when she gets them edited…I know they will be absolutely amazing! I guess you will just have to come to the wedding to see everything for yourself ;)

Presents of all kinds!!

I don't have much new to share with you right now. Just busy with starting back to school and work... Not too many new details on the wedding right now just the little things getting done. I worked on the play list at his brother's football game last night---Hey, it's called multitasking! Those were 4 precious hours that I desperately needed! Time is flying and it gets closer by the day---only 48 more!! RSVP's and gifts are slowly trickling in so keep those coming if you haven't sent them yet...the RSVP's I mean!
Nathan & I get excited every time we get to the house and see a box! We have had so much fun opening them together and figuring out where to put everything in our teeny tiny house! He said that we shouldn't tell people that we are getting so much great stuff so they will feel sorry for us and buy more...such a mess!!!
If you get a chance go check out Missy Robinson's blog. They have been in the process of adopting Baby Owen from Korea and finally got him on Thursday! She has some great pictures that are guaranteed to make you cry. (That was another thing I looked at while at the football game last night!) It has been so great getting to watch them through this process. It gives me so much to look forward to some day when Nathan & I adopt!!

These are Dusty & Missy's 3 handfuls---Reid, Blake, & Baby Owen!! Can't wait to meet this little man! Reid & Blake are the ring bearers (or Pillow Boys as they call it) at our wedding by the way. Too cute!

Well, I think I may be the world's worst blogger... I know it has been a while since I have posted anything but things have been a bit crazy between moving, redecorating, work & school!! We'll see if I can catch you up on everything!

Invitations have officially gone out for the wedding and responses are quickly trickling back in. There are still a few that are getting out late because of addresses and such but otherwise there is no turning back now ;) I told Nathan even if he changes his mind now, it is too late!

He has been absolutely wonderful through all of the moving! He completely caught me off guard with how helpful he has been. He helped with yard work, dishes, planted our first garden, painted furniture, hung shelves and more than anything---has just been so stinkin' sweet!! He never ceases to surprise me! It will really be nice in 2 months when he is around all of the time!!

I will say it has been an adjustment combining some of our stuff in the house though... He brought some of his stuff over that he doesn't need while he is living with his roommate for the next 2 months. Let me just say that I am not too sure how my house is adjusting to camo and um..."different" smells!

Not too sure how I feel about this! ;)

We are still working on all the decorating. Nathan & I aimlessly moved furniture in circles for an hour last weekend and I think it ended up exactly the same way---so typical. Fortunately, my Mom came for a few days to help me do some redecorating! She is wonderful and has such a knack for decorating. She runs 2 bed & breakfasts that are just adorable! You should go check them out & then go tell your family and friends to visit Brenham & book with Tara Farms. Everything is still a work in progress at the house but as the wedding gets closer I am sure things will start falling into place!

We only have 7 more weekends until the wedding!!! I got talk about it all weekend because one of my good friends that just got engaged came down to visit. It was so much fun getting hear all of her ideas and help her plan. So, congrats Tyler & Lindsey! Lindsey---I couldn't be more happy for you. I know you have waited for a LONG time...

That's about all for now... Unfortunately, school starts Monday so I will try to keep up with this but I can't make any promises! Wish us luck...school brings out the best in Nathan! (That is COMPLETE sarcasm)

Engagement Pictures!!!

Lynsey Kramer took our engagement pictures on Saturday so I have been anxiously waiting to see them...well they are posted and are amazing!!! She is so stinkin' creative!! Go check them out at her website. Once again can I just say that she is a phenomenal photographer & such a fun person! It was hilarious to watch her sprawl out on the ground to get just the right angle or picture that she wanted. It definitely paid off because I love them!!

Also, we officially finished our premarital counseling last week. Tim told us that he guessed he would go ahead and marry us ;) Thank goodness!

Oh & Haley said I should clarify that by "nesting" I simply mean getting settled into our house. I guess it is typically referred to when talking about babies... That isn't exactly anything in the near future for us and I think Nathan would flip if I brought it up right now!! haha

Now go check out those pictures and let me us know what you think! And if your see Lynsey, tell her how amazing she is!

Nesting!

This past weekend Nathan & I finally had some free time in the midst of showers, school & work so we decided to head to Belton. I got to “nest” while he sweated his butt off trying to recover our completely overgrown/dead yard! It gets more and more exciting every time we go to work on the house together! Only 2 more months until we will both be living in it…kind of scary ;) Not too sure if he knows what he is really getting in to…and if he does, I guess that’s why I love him so much!!

None of these pictures do justice to how much stuff there was to unpack! I stayed up until 2:30 am washing dishes and figuring out where in the heck I was going to put all that stuff!! I still don't know & I have 2 more big showers to go....

I still have 12 place settings of my dishes to wash...I decided that job was for another day! It would help if I had a dishwasher...

These were really pretty cutting flowers at one point in time... Nathan managed to find about 10 blooms & brought them in for me! Isn't he sweet?!?

Our neighbors probably hate us for our completely overgrown yard...
.

I will post some better pictures when we clean up this mess and get new flowers planted for the fall!! I think Nathan & I are going to try to grow pumpkins! It should be a fun endeavor!
